The GREAT GATSBY [movie] Review
:: Now I haven’t read the book, but I went into it with the understand that the movie isn’t actually about Gatsby, or rather shouldn’t be. It’s about the narrator, the one who experiences Gatsby. And I think Luhrman captured this in his classic beautiful fashion. If you’re familiar with his work on Romeo and Juliet, you know how amazing the teamup of Baz/Leo can be! Anyway, I spent most of the movie simply captivated by DiCaprio’s performance. It’s almost as if his longing for “the green light” is his never ending journey for an Oscar…It’s visually stunning, the soundtrack had my head bobbing the whole time, and the charm of each character mixed with the directorial view had me sunk deep into the world they had created.
